WITH ETHOS STUDENTS

SUMMER TRIPS 2024

We are excited for the upcoming summer and the opportunities we have to serve and connect. Below you’ll find three ways to jump in with Ethos Students this summer. Finished grade applies.

If you have any questions about any of our summer trips, please contact Hudson at hudsonparker@ethoschurch.org.

  • Who: 6th-12th grade students, adult volunteers

    When: June 18-21

Where: Various neighborhoods in the Nashville area

    Cost: $40

What: Formerly known as Power Up Clubs, Neighborhood VBS is a unique opportunity to serve our local Nashville community. Student-led teams will travel daily to various neighborhoods around Nashville and lead 75 minute programs full of fun, community, and encountering the gospel. This has become one of our favorite things we do as a whole church!

Details: Each day, our team will gather in the early afternoon and head to the different homes to put on our Neighborhood VBS program. After running a few programs, we will end the day by eating together and doing a fun group activity! The cost covers your t-shirt, dinners and snacks, evening activities, and transportation.

  • Who: 9th-12th grade students (cap at 12 students)

    When: July 1-7

Where: San Rafael de Heredia, Costa Rica

    Cost: $1500

What: As a church, we are in relationship with multiple global ministry leaders and missionaries around the world through our church planting network, Onward. Two of our partners, Matt and Kayla Salley, lead youth and college groups to serve their local community in Costa Rica through community events with kids, teenagers, and families.

Details: Matt and Kayla serve with GC2 Ministries, a church planting organization based in Costa Rica. They were members of our Ethos family before feeling called to Costa Rica to minister alongside Matt’s dad, who has been a missionary in Costa Rica for multiple years. In fact, that’s where Matt grew up! Both Matt and Kayla have been through Onward Church Planting training. Their main goal is to equip disciples to be able to live out the calling of both the Great Commission: to make disciples, and the Great Commandment: to love God and people. They do this through a variety of programs, all aimed at training up new leaders and helping to plant local churches all over Costa Rica. In order to help outreach for local church plants, teams from the United States (that’s us!) come down to host VBS for the kids in the community. These will include songs, games, snacks, and a lesson for the kids. The ultimate goal is to connect these families with the local church, where they can continue to build community. GC2 has multiple experienced staff members in Costa Rica that will equip and guide our team throughout the week. Not only will GC2 help our team with programming, but they will house us! For more information on the Salleys and their mission, you can visit www.salleysonmission.com.

Due to GC2’s housing capabilities, we will have to cap our number of students at 12. Once registration opens, spots will be reserved for those who register and get their deposit in. We will also have a wait list for those who register after our cap in case anyone drops out. If your student is even interested in going, I would highly recommend you go ahead and apply for a passport if you do not have one. We will have plenty of fundraising opportunities throughout the spring and summer to help your student raise money. The cost covers your travel, lodging, food, and an off-site activity day while in Costa Rica. The deposit will help us book our flights in the near future.

GC2 will have multiple team members on-site leading and equipping us to serve safely and effectively. These leaders are trained and experienced in leading groups. Along with these leaders, we will be bringing these adult leaders:

    Hudson Parker
    Molli Parker
    Joelle Erickson (Ethos Kids Pastor)
Lucas Boto (Ethos Global Missions Pastor)
    Kristina Parnell
*We are working out one more male adult leader.

Registration Opens: February 19th at 9am ($200 deposit due to secure spot)

    Registration Deadline: March 24th

  • Who: 4th-12th grade students

    When: July 21-26

Where: Hy-Lake Christian Camp - Quebeck, TN

    Cost: $250

What: After the success of last year’s camps, we have decided to take our next step and host our own Ethos Church Summer Camp! The camp will be open to 4th-12th grade students and staffed by our very own church family. Expect a ton of memories in the cabins, incredible encounters with God, and lots and lots of fun. It’s going to be such a great week.

Details: Camp will take place at Hy-Lake Christian Camp in Quebeck, TN (near McMinnville, about 2 hours east of Nashville). Campers will be placed in cabins with same gender and same age-grouped students, along with two college-age counselors who will be with them throughout the week. There will also be several staff members helping run things smoothly and keep our students safe. Camp will consist of lots of fun activities like super sports, time on the lake, crafts, dress-up nights, and more! We will have extended times of worship, teaching, small group discussion, and experiences to draw our students closer to the heart of God. Counselors and staff will arrive at Hy-Lake on Saturday, July 20th and campers will arrive on Sunday afternoon, July 21st. Camp will wrap up in the early afternoon on Friday, July 26th.
