LEARN MORE ABOUT TODD...

What do you do for a living?

We own an industrial equipment company that focuses on wash equipment for reusable packaging (pallets, crates, etc). We sell, service (and design) the equipment for the food, distribution, and healthcare industries. We also do some automation (like robotics) tied to the equipment.

Where are you originally from?

Originally I am from Indiana. Most of my family is still there. After college I moved "South" and moved and traveled a decent amount, but have been a Southerner since.

How long have you lived in the Middle Tennessee area?

We have lived in the area for almost 13 years now (Murfreesboro).

How did you discover Ethos? What drew you here?

While we were still at our prior church, we read some about Ethos in the newspaper in its early years, heard our pastor speak some about it, and were drawn to the mission. We came and visited one Sunday, visited a couple more times, and never left.

What is your hope for our church family?

My prayer is that our church family continues to maintain its mission and core DNA, even as it continues to grow. We know that God is at work in our city and is working through Ethos in its mission to Love God, Love People, & Awaken a Movement.

Where did you go to college?

Purdue University

How did you meet your spouse?

Stacey and I met at work at McKee Foods (Little Debbie) outside of Chattanooga.

How long have you been married?

14 years

Do you have any pets?

We (really my wife and kids...) have a cat named Jasmine.

Hobbies:

I tend to be pretty busy these days with work, etc and I don't have too much free time, so I enjoy spending what extra time I have with my family. As a family we particularly enjoy watching the Predators together. I also actually like doing yard work, it is therapeutic and a good diversion. I enjoy fixing things around the house, and building furniture, etc.

Favorite Foods/Drinks:

I like trying new foods and restaurants. There is very little that I won't try once. I also REALLY like coffee.

Favorite Travel Destinations:

We like to travel in general and experience new places, but Italy and Maui are probably the top of the list.

Favorite Movies:

I can't call one particular movie as a favorite, but some I'd put high on the list are: Hoosiers (I'm from Indiana, I have to say that), Usual Suspects, A Christmas Story, Sandlot

Favorite Books:

I am not sure I have any one favorite, it just tends to be what I'm reading at the moment. I usually have four different books going at any time (the Bible, another spiritual book, a business book, and then a mystery/action/adventure fiction). One book I do go back to a fair amount is "Love Does" by Bob Goff.

Favorite Music:

Mumford & Sons, Josh Garrels, Judah & the Lion, Avett Brothers

Passions:

I think it would be in passing along life lessons and wisdom where I can. In my professional life I have been blessed with doing a lot of things and having a lot of experiences and I enjoy using these to mentor others in that space. As an entrepreneur and business owner I tend to always look at things through that lens and it keeps things interesting. I feel that God has given me these gifts and I want to make sure I am using them to help grow His kingdom here with all of those interactions.

Anything else you'd like to add?

I really like fixing, building, creating things. Maybe that is the engineer in me, but it translates to me enjoying building stuff for ourselves or family/friends, brainstorming equipment designs, business ideas, etc. I think it all centers on seeing a problem or opportunity and problem solving to create a solution. It is very gratifying to have something tangible to look at once you have completed a project and/or to leave things better off than when you started.

What do you do day to day?

I am a homeschooling mom and a homemaker. We have homeschooled now for 5-1/2 years (that was God directed for us), and we have loved the flexibility and extra time together as a family.

Where are you originally from?

Ooltewah, TN (close to Chattanooga)

How long have you lived in the Middle Tennessee area?

13 years (Murfreesboro)

How did you discover Ethos? What drew you here?

Todd first read an article in the newspaper about Ethos that piqued our curiosity. We also heard our previous preacher mention Ethos and Dave Clayton a few times. I feel like it was the Holy Spirit that drew us here, and the undeniable presence of the Holy Spirit — along with several other things — that kept us here.

What is your hope for our church family?

John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." I trust that God will continue to guide us individually, and as a church family, when we seek Him first with the entirety of our lives.

Where did you go to college?

Tennessee Tech

Hobbies:

I LOVE to read. I also love being in nature (especially the mountains), playing cards/games, cheering for the Preds with my family, and being active. I love learning with my kids, reading books together, and anything we all do as a family. Oh — holding babies — maybe not a "hobby," but my heaven.

Favorite Food/Drinks:

Anything homemade... especially breads (sourdough, cinnamon rolls, etc.) Also love wood-fired pizza, chicken & dumplings, strawberry cake, fried Brussel sprouts, any Thai dish with basil & duck, and any fruit.

Favorite Travel Destinations:

Maui (specifically road to Hana) and Italy

Favorite Movies:

Mary Poppins (still lifts my soul), The Princess Bride, and anything like The Bourne Series & Oceans 11.

Favorite Books:

Aside from the Bible, my favorites currently include The Practice of the Presence of God, George Muller of Bristol, The Good and Beautiful God series, The Compound Effect, anything by Bob Goff, anything by Sally Clarkson.

Favorite Music:

Primarily worship music. Also listen to JJ Heller, Drew & Ellie Holcomb, Judah & the Lion, Josh Garrels & Johnnyswim

Passions:

Efforts to end sex trafficking, care for orphans/adoption

Anything else you'd like to add?

I love cooking from scratch (especially together with Todd), and being adventurous in what we eat and where we travel. I love homemaking and sharing life and laughter with family and friends.

I get bored easily with "systems" and am constantly trying new things out for variety. I typically don't like to do something just because it is expected of me. I'm a little of a germophobe, too - worst thought is bottom of shoes after leaving a public restroom. And public restrooms. ;)

I love seeing all that God has done and is doing everywhere I look. Continuing to seek to know Him more. Thankful for my Ethos family... where pastors and family members alike are living examples of individuals intentionally seeking to live Kingdom lives.
