Our Story
In the spring of 2008, 12 people gathered in the home of Dave and Sydney Clayton to begin praying and dreaming about the birth of a new church family in downtown Nashville. During those first few summer months, our first little house church began to grow as that small group of friends began inviting friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, and complete strangers to join in on what God was beginning to do among them.
It wasn’t long before that little house on Shackleford Drive could no longer contain the number of folks that were gathering to worship, pray, study the word, and commune with God and each other.
During those early days, our emerging church family, was joyfully nomadic. That summer we met in coffee shops, apartment complexes, parks, and just about anywhere else that did not charge rent.
Then on October 19th, 2008, Ethos Church officially began.
The first Sunday Worship Gathering was held in the Cannery Ballroom, a bar and music venue in the heart of downtown Nashville. That night, a little more than a hundred people gathered to celebrate the birth of this new church family and all that God was doing.
Today, thousands of people consider Ethos Church their spiritual family. Each Sunday, our church family gathers at a variety of times and locations in Nashville and beyond. During the week, we gather in homes (house churches) all across the city to worship Jesus, love each other, and to faithfully serve the city to which God has sent us.
Although we are excited about what God has done among us, we are convinced the best is yet to come.
Our prayer is that you will become a part of the story that God is writing among us.
