Counseling & Share Groups
We believe there are many seasons in life in which Biblical Counseling can play a vital role in continued growth a maturity of an individual or family. At Ethos Church, we are committed to helping our church family grow deeper in all facets of the Christian journey. We are pleased to provide connections to godly counseling through the following people and counseling centers.
Harpeth Hills Counseling Center
The counseling services are offered to the Harpeth Hills church family, as well as the community at large. While individual therapy is provided for matters such as anxiety or depression, a major focus for the Center is that of “relationships.” This includes preparation for marriage, marital therapy, divorce adjustment, stepfamily adjustment and parent-child relationships. The Counseling Center is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 615-690-4661. If appointments need to be canceled, clients are encouraged to call 24 hours prior to their scheduled time in order to make the necessary changes. Rates are tiered between $40-$125 per session based on the experience of the counselor you see. Call to set up an appointment and inquire about a counselor and their rates. While the counseling center does not file insurance, clients are free to file their own insurance to assist in paying for counseling. Financial assistance is available to Ethos Church Family Members.
Lipscomb University Family Therapy Center
The Lipscomb Family Therapy Center serves the mental health and relationship care needs of individuals, couples, and families in the Nashville community. We provide confidential, compassionate and comprehensive therapy services on a variety of issues in a comfortable and private setting. Therapist interns work under the supervision of licensed marriage and family therapists and Lipscomb University MFT faculty. Clients have the advantage of working with a treatment team as opposed to an individual therapist.
We offer a generous sliding scale fee from $10-$90 per session (based on income and family size) and make every effort not to turn anyone away because of an inability to pay. Located on the edge of Lipscomb University’s campus, on-site parking is available. At the Lipscomb Family Therapy Center, we welcome everyone, regardless of religious or spiritual background, and we believe that seeking help shows strength and a personal commitment to becoming a healthier person. To contact, email or call 615-966-5300.
Allison Bassham, LMFT, LPC, EMDR II and Clayton Bassham, MMFT, LPC, EMDR III, CSAT, CMAT, CTT
Allison Bassham, LMFT, LPC, EMDR II
Born and raised in Nashville, Allison still loves 90s country. You’ll rarely find her without a cup of coffee or a water bottle in hand, and she has an affection for chocolate. She headed west to Harding for college, graduating undergrad with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. From there, Allison went straight into grad school, graduating at the top of her class with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and is now fully licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. She also still likes to tease her husband for having a higher GPA in Graduate School since they went through the same Master’s program at Harding University. Allison has been practicing since 2014 and is trained in EMDR 1 and 2, utilizing this specialization often. She shows a unique combination of gentleness and tenacity of spirit that is infectious and rewarding for her client’s growth. Allison loves working with people who are openly facing any of life’s challenges and are ready to dig in and go deep. Her passions include: her two puppies- Blaise and Blue, reading, drawing, creating artwork, and hand written letters.
Clayton Bassham, MMFT, LPC, EMDR III, CSAT, CMAT, CTT
Born and raised in Texas, Clayton is still a firm believer that you can’t have a good barbecue without brisket. From age 2, baseball has been a passion of Clayton’s and he still loves to attend live games any chance he gets. He graduated from Harding with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Religion and went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. From there, Clayton served as a therapist and assistant director of Capstone Treatment Center for 7 years, where he was nicknamed Cuddly Clayton for his kindness and ability to make people feel comfortable. These attributes, in conjunction with his grit and determination, prove to be instrumental in the process of treatment for his clients. Clayton and Allison opened Ascend Counseling, PLLC in 2019 and have loved working with a variety of clients with varying needs. Clayton has a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT), is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT), Certified Trauma Therapist (CTT), and is trained in Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing, I, II, and III (EMDR I, II, III). Clayton might admit that his GPA was slightly less than his wife’s in Graduate School. However, he likes to tease Allison by saying that his course work was more intense when he was in the Master’s program. Clayton likes working with people. Andy Melton: PhD, LPC-MHSP
I help disconnected couples, restless entrepreneurs, and those stifled by anxiety and depression. When I entered this profession, I realized everyone on the planet needs a safe place where they can be completely themselves and say anything. At times we need to chat with someone who's not part of our family or friend circles, someone with training and skills to help us navigate challenging thoughts, emotions, relationships, and matters of faith.
My experience includes 15 years training and practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-MHSP). In 2018, I completed a PhD in counselor education and supervision in addition to a masters in clinical mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy.
Location: Inglewood neighborhood of East Nashville.
I'd be glad to meet for a brief consultation (no cost) to see if I'm a good fit for you. Or, if you know you're ready to get started, you can view my schedule here. Feel free to text or call with any questions at 615-669-4105.
Bailee Teter, LPC-MHSP temp, Eagala Certified - Equine Assisted Counseling
When people think of a counseling session, they may think of a couch in a private office with hundreds of books on the wall. To some people that is comforting, for others it is intimidating. I practice at Unbridled Changes, an Equine Assisted Counseling facility in Goodlettsville, TN. Our location offers a unique approach to counseling in the middle of Tennessee countryside, with plenty of trees, a creek, and horses. I (along with the horses) will partner with you to grow, heal, and overcome life challenges as we explore root beliefs, traumas, and patterns that keep you from thriving.
With a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Lipscomb University and a background in expressive arts, play therapy, and sand tray therapies, I have a creative perspective towards counseling. I believe anyone can achieve long lasting healing when additional parts of your brain are engaged in a hands-on session. Equine assisted therapy allows you to use not only your memory and words, but sight, hearing, touch, and smell for a complete experience.
Horses are naturally sensitive to the world around them due to being prey animals in the wild. This sensitivity allows them to be in tune with human emotions and body language, providing immediate feedback to what the individual may be experiencing in life. Horses are also herd animals and each horse presents with a unique personality and position in a social structure much like humans. These qualities allow clients like you, the space to project their own story onto the horse and examine it from an external, experiential perspective. (All interactions with horses are ground-based, no riding is involved.)
As a member of Ethos since 2014, and a recipient of Freedom Prayer, I believe counseling is one of many valuable resources available to you becoming a more authentic and freer version of who God created you to be. For those who are interested, specific Christian counseling from a Biblical perspective is available by request.
While I primarily work with young adults, kids, and teens, I accept individuals in all life stages. Contact me with questions about your needs. Initial phone consultations are free of charge.
Counseling sessions are largely Equine Assisted but can be scheduled as a “walk and talk” session, or an outdoor talk therapy session on the farm per request.
Cost: Sessions are $150. Sliding scale and scholarships are offered on a limited basis, inquire about an application.

I also enjoy working with adult individuals who want to overcome various life struggles such as: grief/loss, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Pornography has taken too many men captive. I was one of them, but I have found hope and healing. I want to help you find freedom from pornography so you can experience the fullness of an integrated life. I create a safe environment for you to share your story and experience God’s redemption in your own life through the gift of recovery. I will work with you to find the root causes of your addiction, so the healing process can begin. I will help you learn the truth of who you are, develop new patterns of thinking, and implement healthy skills that will allow you to walk in freedom, fully alive.
After walking my own path of recovery, I felt called to walk with other men and help them find freedom too. I am a trained and certified professional recovery coach who understands both the challenges and the rewards of walking the path of recovery.
You are not made to walk in guilt and shame. You are not made to walk alone. You are made to walk in freedom and in community. Your story is a beautiful narrative of the work of God in your life.

Laura Prescott: MFT (temp)
Hi! My name is Laura. I enjoy working with people who are looking for ways to feel their best, either as individuals, or as couples. My focus each day is being a resource for hope, healing, and healthy relationships.
I’m excited to bring something new to the Ethos family: “Marriage Planning & More”. It’s a divinely inspired approach to couples counseling that helps couples learn how to have relationships that thrive. It begins with customized pre-engagement or pre-marital counseling, then offers ongoing coaching to help couples as they experience new challenges in their relationship. Coaching helps couples navigate transitions in their marriage & keep their bond strong as they enter the role of parenting. I approach couples counseling this way because I have a deep desire to help marriages succeed. When marriages thrive, it gives children a better opportunity flourish. It’s wonderful to see couples grow closer together as they gain wisdom and learn important skills.
I also work with individuals who are looking for ways to feel better. My approach to individual counseling helps clients identify the obstacles that are limiting their joy, so they can begin to live in the freedom of emotional wellness.
