YES Christmas Store: Donate and Volunteer

Posted by Brooks Lokey on

Each year at Christmas, our partners at Youth Encouragement Services host a Christmas Store where people from the Napier community do their Christmas shopping. Parents pay a small fee which allows them to attend and pick out toys and clothes for each of their kids. Families are also provided a box of food for a Christmas meal. Each year, the Christmas Store helps serve over 700 children in the community — all from the donations and help of volunteers across the city. We’re happy to be partnering with YES again this year. There are two ways to serve with YES this season:

On Sunday, December 5, we’re hosting a donation drive at the Cannery. YES is looking for toys, games, books, and sports equipment — as well as clothing, jewelry, pajamas, etc. for kids anywhere from newborn up to 18 years old. Bring items with you to donate and drop them off in the designated area in the lobby on that Sunday. Please only bring new items in their original packaging. Used items will not be accepted.

YES is also looking for volunteers to serve at the Christmas Store. The Christmas store will be split up between two days — Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12. There are multiple shifts on those days, and it takes a large number of volunteers to make this happen! There are also shifts available earlier in the week to help set up and sort items as well as after the event for clean up. They can take as many volunteers as we can send them, so sign up with your family, roommates, House Church, friends, or on your own.

Click here and read the instructions on the next page to sign up. After selecting your shift, scroll to the bottom and select your t-shirt size (t-shirts are only for volunteers working the day of the store, not sorting prior to the event).
