Isaiah 55:1-6

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the peoples. Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor. Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.”

It’s an exciting moment when you receive an invitation. Who doesn’t love getting invited to something? Whether it’s an invitation to dinner with friends or a wedding of someone you love — it’s a moment of feeling loved, included, and wanted.

How about this incredible invitation from God in Isaiah 55? Is there anyone better to receive an invitation from than God himself? It’s a simple invitation to come. An invitation into His presence. An invitation to receive from God — to be filled by God. He is inviting us to come and drink from the true source of life — God himself.

Often, we turn to other things and places to be filled — only to be back at the place we started — in need of true refreshment for our souls and purpose for our lives. This week, we are drawing near to God as a church family asking him to fill us afresh with His love, forgiveness, power, and mission.

  • God, will you reveal to me the places where my heart has grown cold towards you?
  • God, will you refresh my heart and remind me of how loved I am by you?
  • God, will you tune my ears to your voice today?
  • God, will you remind me of the forgiveness, power, and purpose that comes with being your child?
  • God, will you call every person in our city to come to you?
