This summer will mark the beginning of an exciting new season for our Ethos Kids Team. As we step into this next season of ministry, there are a few exciting pieces of news that I believe will bless our family members with young kids.
A Brief History
Several years ago, it became readily apparent that our church needed to develop a clear plan for serving our families as they seek to disciple their young children. At the time (more than 5 years ago), our church family only had a handful of kids under the age of ten, but it was clear that would not be the case for long. So after much prayer and discernment, Brooke Akin was asked to officially launch what would become Ethos Kids.
Brooke jumped in full steam ahead and has done an amazing job balancing life at home with her own young kids, as well as serving in a very part time role to provide extraordinary vision and leadership to our ever expanding Ethos Kids Ministry.
In the years since, not only has the number of kids rapidly increased, but so has our number of locations in which we are now currently serving families with kids, and all signs are pointing to the reality that our kids ministry will only keep growing.
Next Steps for the Days Ahead
In the early part of 2017, Brooke Akin began to sense a need for some changes to the way our kids ministry was organized to better serve our ever growing church family. After much prayer and discernment, the Direction Team sensed this was the right move, and beginning on June 15th the following next steps will be taken in our Ethos Kids Ministry.
1. New Central Leader of Ethos Kids : Although she has done an amazing job, Brooke discerned that she did not have the capacity in her current phase of life to serve more hours each week as the Ethos Kids Pastor on our Central Team. So beginning June 15th, we are pleased to announce that Carly Brandvold will joining our Central Team as our new Ethos Kids Pastor. Carly has been an amazing part of our Kids Team and has most recently done a fantastic job launching the Ethos Kids Ministry at Hillsboro Village. In her new role, Carly will be working to provide support to our Kids Team across all three locations.
2. Brooke Akin's New Role : The good news is that, along with Carly's new role on the central team, Brooke Akin will still be leading our Kids Ministry at the Cannery Ballroom. Carly's transition will actually free Brooke up to give more time and attention to the location where she already serves week in and week out. Beginning on June 15th, Brooke will begin serving exclusively as our Cannery Kids Pastor.
3. Our New Hillsboro Village Kids Coordinator: Along with Carly's transition, there was a big gap to fill in our Ethos Kids Team at Hillsboro Village. In His goodness, God has provided us with an amazing new leader for this wonderful ministry. Our new Hillsboro Village Kids Pastor is Tricia Berry. Tricia has been an amazing part of our church family, and will make an incredible addition to our Ethos Kids Team.
Please join me in thanking God and showing your love and appreciation to each of these leaders as they partner with our families each week. I believe we are in for an exciting season of ministry together as we seek to become a family that Loves God, Loves People, and Awakens the Movement that Jesus began.
