Ethos India : Mission Update

Posted by Dave Clayton on

Dear Ethos Family,  As many of you may know, we have two church plants in Northeast India (near the city of Calcutta) in which several members of the Ethos and Lipscomb Community are going to be traveling to this Summer from May 26th-June 8th, 2012. This is going to be Ethos' first trip to India to not only encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ overseas, but to help spread the Gospel of Christ to those who are lost and seeking a deeper meaning in a culture of countless gods, and heart-wrenching poverty.

I would love to encourage you all to start praying not only for our upcoming trip this summer (for safety, good health, and 'cooler' weather), but to be continually praying for the hearts of our family of Christ in India. They are the ones who are constantly facing challenges in a culture that shuns and persecutes Christianity. It gives me great encouragement to know that we are going to be in the care of such brave, courageous, and willing brothers and sisters in Christ while in India. I would also like to encourage everyone to please pray for our hearts (as a team) to be prepared to face whatever happens in India. I know we are going to be diving into a culture that many members have never been exposed to, so pray that God unites us as we share His Love in a new (and sometimes confusing) culture.

I would also like to open up and let everyone in the Ethos Family know that we are still in search of two (Male) students (or non-students) who would be willing (committed) to go to India this summer with our team. Originally we had 10 spots filled, but two spots have now become open. As a team, we ask that you please consider this with an open and prayerful heart. You can reach me at:   or find me on facebook "Dolly Stang" if you are interested in joining!

And yet another prayer to offer up would definitely be about our fund-raising for all the members of the team. Individually, we each have to raise around $2,500 (which includes airfare, lodging, travel, food, etc). As a team, we are brainstorming ideas for raising this amount of money by May which include (tshirt sales, babysitting, chick-fil-a night, benefit dinner, personal letters to friends/family, etc). Our talented team members have even designed their own stationary in which ALL the proceeds go to India (Lemon Tree Paper Co). We hope that through these various fund-raising ideas, our church family can come together and help us go to India!

More updates are soon to come. But I just wanted you all to be aware of what is going on with the first India-Ethos Mission trip! I pray that many more trips come in the future so EVERYONE can experience the rich, colorful, and beautiful culture of India!
