Church in the City : Follow Up

Posted by Dave Clayton on

Good afternoon,
I hope you are having a great week thus far. Hopefully you had an opportunity to enjoy some of the beautiful weather over Memorial Day weekend as you celebrated with friends and family in Nashville and beyond. As we begin another new week together, I’d like to take just a minute to share a quick update on what happened as our church scattered across the city this past Sunday to love our city.

If you weren’t in town this past Sunday, Ethos did not meet at the Cannery for our typical Sunday Worship Gatherings. Instead we went out into the city to serve. We called this “Church in the City.” You can read more about that here.

It was amazing to see what happens when a community of people commits themselves to the Lord through serving others. Throughout the day there were hundreds of you scattered across the city serving in a variety of ways.

… you threw block parties for your neighbors
… served at the men’s and women’s Rescue Mission
… helped fight human trafficking locally & nationally
… gave cold water to the the thirsty
… served meals to the hungry
… sat down and listened to the stories of those who are hurting
… helped clean up city parks and walkways
… served families who are in a time of crisis and so much more.

It was fun to see pictures on twitter, read blogs about your experiences, and listen to you tell stories first hand about all that God did in you and through you as you purposefully strove to be the Church in the City.

I can’t tell you what a joy it is to serve alongside men and women like you. Thanks for stepping up to the challenge. Thank you for loving Jesus and serving our city. Whether you realize it or not, day in and day out, you are helping our church’s mission come to life as you Love God, Love People, and Awaken a Movement. I hope you are having fun in the process, I know that I am.

Love you guys,

Dave Clayton
