On Sunday, November 1st, we will celebrate our birthday as a church family. To celebrate, we'll collect a special offering and 100% of the collection will go to 6 global initiatives that are directly linked to Ethos family members. One of these global initiatives is in Haiti — specifically the organization, Children of the Promise and Ethos family members, Roni and Stephanie Bhullar. Read more of what Roni and Stephanie have to say about what Children of the Promise is doing in Haiti...
Roni and Stephanie traveled to Haiti together on seven short-term mission trips, focusing on community outreach. In these seven trips, they both fell in love with the resilient people of Haiti. Their hearts were broken by the overwhelming number of orphans they interacted with. Eventually they felt God calling them into something deeper in Haiti. His calling led them to Children of the Promise.
Children of the Promise (COTP) is located in a small village near the northern city of Cap-Haitien. It is one of the few organizations in Haiti that admits babies. Despite Haiti’s high rate of child abandonment, COTP’s first priority is to keep families together by providing educational and nutritional resources for expecting mothers. However, sometimes the abandonment of a child is inevitable. When all efforts are exhausted, children are admitted and placed for adoption.
The mission of Children of the Promise is to provide excellent physical, spiritual, emotional, educational & economic care for at-risk children and families in Haiti. Within the past five years, COTP has introduced family style living environments to better attend to attachment related issues often experienced by orphaned children. Each child home has one set of foster parents, a team of Haitian nannies, and 6-8 children. Roni and Stephanie live in the newly built Hope House and currently have three boys living with them with three more open spots for abandoned infants or toddlers. They will seek to model healthy relationships within a family unit as well as apply therapeutic interventions to alleviate the trauma of abandonment.
Roni and Stephanie feel Ethos Church played a major role in their preparation for Haiti. While attending Ethos, the Spirit led Roni to become a Christian. Ethos provided the spiritual nourishment and encouragement, which fueled their journey to the mission field. It is through Ethos that Roni and Stephanie heard God say “Go” when the world said “Stay.”
On November 1st, we get the opportunity to join in with Roni and Stephanie and all those working in Haiti on behalf of Children of the Promise. 7.5% of our Birthday Offering will go to advance the work of Children of Promise in Haiti. Be praying today for the children served through Children of the Promise, and pray how God is inviting you to be a part of it. If you'd like to give online to our special offering (100% is going to 6 global initiatives), you can give here. Please choose "Awaken a Movement" as your designation.
